#iclapfor projection in Princeton, New Jersey
Clapping Hands Art seen in the Ivy League Town
Princeton
Twenty artists who contributed pieces for the global project #iclapfor that thanks front line workers will had their works illuminated on the side of the Public library in the famous university town.
It may have began in the UK with an idea between artist Ian Berry and his 6-year-old son Elliott but it has grown to be projected around the world and now, here in the USA joining LA, New Orleans, Greensboro and New York in the states. “I Clap For” was a reaction to the clapping that took off around the globe in the evenings during lock downs.
Andre Veloux
Artists were invited to join the project, including Princeton artist Andre Veloux whose contribution was created from Lego. Veloux was present during the illumination, the first presentation of the project in New Jersey. He was joined by fellow artist, New York based Holly Brown.
The animated clapping hands was displayed on a continuous loop on the side of the library starting at dusk. The projection, which will run for 90 minutes, was visible from the plaza outside the library on July 23, 2020 . People dropped by to witness the illumination, meet the artists and join in the global clap for our front line workers.

“It's things like this that are so special because it shows we care, and we appreciate what those are doing for us, and that we understand what society and community means. It means taking care of each other and especially those in need whatever their circumstance.”

“People were stopping to take photos and ask what this important initiative is all about. Big thanks goes to our friend and artist Ian Berry who brought 20 artists together for this project and to make sure we always remember “when the clapping ends the caring continues.” Take time to keep thanking the frontline workers, healthcare providers and those that continue to risk their lives to beat this pandemic”
