Newcastle’s The Great North Children's Hospital see’s the final projections
When the clapping ends…
On Sunday we saw the final projections of Ian Berry’s Clapping Hands to coincide with the 5th July NHS Birthday. They happened at two hospitals, the Royal Brompton in London and here in Newcastle at the RVI’s Great Northern Children’s hospital. The Hands that have touched so many places around the UK and the world came back ‘home’ to the two cities where it all started, so it is very fitting to be back in the city and projecting at the Great North Children’s Hospital.
…The care continues
Already the city along with Gateshead has seen it on the Civic Centre, the Keep, the Castle, Central Railway Station, The Baltic and of course the Angel of the North. and now to end with the place where many people really clap for - the hospital. Andrew Hall with See the Bigger Picture Ltd and the Drone Guys once again teamed up and have been one of the biggest driving forces in getting it out there to the whole country and around the world.

Chief Executive at Newcastle Hospitals, Dame Jackie Daniel reflected on this challenging time as well as expressing her thanks to the public, every key worker and staff at the Trust.
“Sunday was an opportunity for us to come together as a nation to thank the public for all their support and, of course, all the key workers who have played such an essential role.
“I expect many of us also found a quiet moment to remember the many lives that have been lost due to COVID-19. Our chaplaincy team have been fundamental in the support they have provided to staff, patients and their families over the pandemic.
“Hopefully, this tribute to NHS staff reflects their listening ears to the stories of fear, hope and love across our great City and what a way to end the day with one of our hospitals being illuminated.”
