LONDON
Greenwich Mean Time
Time. It’s now been ten weeks in ‘lock down’ and now the tenth week of the weekly clap in the UK. It’s been suggested this should end now to keep the positive spirit. We understand the arguments but also see so much positivity especially in the regions and towns and cities the projection has been shown. We felt for this reason it would be nice to project in Greenwich, London, which is so connected to.. time. It’s also just across the river from the first projection, in Poplar. So it has gone north of the river, to the south, like the furthest north or Britain, to the furthest southern tip. Quite some achievement. May have gone a little faster at the end, but wow. Thank you all who helped make this happen.
The Bright Lights
It all began in London with Ian Berry and his son, who after thinking projecting would be a good idea, they projected it near Ian’s Studio, here at the Spratt’s Complex in Poplar, with great views looking over Canary Wharf that still shines bright.
Canary Wharf
The famous skyscrapers of the heart of the capitals finance is the backdrop here, where the projection is on and can be seen in residential areas where those we clap for may live.
Poplar
The setting of ‘Call the Midwife’ and home to Ian Berry and Elliott - here it is projected on the side of a corner shop on Morris Road to light up the street for those passing by who we clap for. The gated complex is the former dog biscuit factory, once the largest in the world
Brixton Fire Station
Ben Fender lit up Brixton Fire Station in South London and arrange for the Fire Fighters to to a tribute with clapping with it, you can see more by clicking on the picture.
Bartlett Park
Close by is Bartlett Park that also has views of the looming Canary Wharf. Here a bus driver goes past, someone who when the question, who do you clap for was asked was often mentioned. We clap for all those who have to go out in these times.
Hackney Wick
The temporary installation went up with many more permanent works in Hackney Wick, with places like the Crate Brewery and around the Olympic Stadium seeing the Hand Clapping installation.

Chrisp Street Market, Poplar
Poplar Baths
