The Cathedral Church of Christ, Blessed Mary the Virgin and St Cuthbert of Durham, commonly known as Durham Cathedral and home of the Shrine of St Cuthbert, is a cathedral in the city of Durham, England. It is the seat of the Bishop of Durham, the fourth-ranked bishop in the Church of England hierarchy.

UNESCO World Heritage Site

Set on a rocky promontory next to the Castle, with the medieval city huddled below and the river sweeping round, the profile of the UNESCO World Heritage Site is instantly recognisable to travellers on the East Coast railway line. It’s now been lit to pay homage to those we clap for.
